Moose Dances To The Aid of Family Haven

A Chance meeting at an Irish dancing class led to a publicity lifeline being thrown to a charity for vulnerable families. Moose Partnership (http://www.moosepartnership.co.uk) took over the creation and design of a leaflet for the Family Haven Centre after a conversation between Moose managing director, Mark Owen, and the charity's fundraiser and public relations manager Claire McGrath, at his wife's Irish dancing class.

When Mr Owen heard that Claire and her colleagues were having difficulty finalising the text and design of their latest brochure, he offered to set the Moose team onto the job for free.

"Claire asked me for some advice on the design of the leaflet and when I saw other fantastic work they were doing I decided to take the whole project on board without charging a fee," said Mr Owen, who is also the chairman of the Gloucester branch of the Federation of Small Businesses.

"It is a very worthwhile charity and needs to raise revenues to keep going. "I'm a strong believer in putting something back into the community."

The Family Haven was established in 1988 to help disadvantaged and vulnerable families in Gloucestershire to a brighter future.

The charity helps parents and their pre-school children by providing a warm, caring and supportive day centre where assistance and encouragement is available to help them to improve the quality of their lives.

It costs the charity more than £170,000 to provide support to around 100 families every year.

Claire said: "It was so good of Mark to take over the job for us and I must say he and his team have done a superb job.

"The finished leaflet looks terrific and will be a key tool in our fund raising activities in the future.

"I would also like to thank our main sponsors Cheltenham and Gloucester who are printing the leaflet for nothing at their print works."
